The new complex Allen Parish Jail was built in 2015, with its first inmate housed since September 2015. Old complex was built in 1913 now known as “white house”. The old facility is completely retired now.
The current correctional house is present on the 1st floor near rear-end. It has direct connection with the courtroom which aids in added security during inmate transfers to & from court. The front-end of this floor also houses Administration Unit, 911 room, dispatch, registration & bonding office along with registration and patrol divisions.
2nd floor has all administrative offices, and a large multi-purpose hall.
The jail has several dormitories, each supervised by a correctional officer directly. A receiving sally port is present near its entrance. A separate wing houses a large kitchen which is manned by a trustee inmate and supervised by a Deputy & correctional officer.
There are a couple transport officers who transport inmates to different facilities around the state, take inmates to doctor’s & dentists’ appointments, etc.
